EXCLUSIVE: Data released on COVID-19 vaccinations in Prince George

PRINCE GEORGE – After the Ministry of Health could not release up-to-date COVID-19 vaccination numbers, CKPG News has obtained data about the state of vaccinations in Prince George.

According to data released from Northern Health, just over 35,000 first doses have been given in the city, which is approximately 46% of the eligible population.

The data collected is based on the residency of those vaccinated, meaning those without permanent addresses in the city who have been given a vaccine do not count towards this statistic.

Data from the province shows that the rate of 46% in Prince George is close to rates seen around the province while being below others that have been privy to priority rollouts.

The capacity of the vaccine clinic at the PG Conference and Civic Centre has grown to over 1,000 people per day, and the recent pop-up clinic at the House of Ancestors could give just over 200 doses a day.

Now those 12 years of age and older in B.C. can register online to get a COVID-19 vaccine.
