PRINCE GEORGE — One person is dead following a motorcycle accident.

Prince George RCMP say it happened on May 11 at around 8:30 p.m. on Highway 97 S near the Woodpecker rest stop.

“Initial reports stated the southbound motorcycle failed to negotiate a curve in the highway and entered the ditch. BC Emergency Health Services transported the 65-year-old driver to hospital; unfortunately, the driver did not survive his injuries,” says Cst. Jennifer Cooper.

She asks that witnesses or those with dash cam footage contact police at (250)561-3300.

Cooper says that a 19-year-old man survived a motorycle crash earlier that same day in Prince George.

She says that collision occurred just before 11 a.m. on Foothills Boulevard near Cranbrook Hill Road.

“A northbound Kawasaki motorcycle failed to negotiate a curve in the road and struck the centre median, causing the bike to roll and eject the driver.”

The 19-year-old was taken to hospital with RCMP saying driver inexperience and speed were contributing factors in the crash.

In light of these accidents, RCMP are reminding drivers that motorcycle season is upon us and to double check for motorcycles before making a turn. In addition to that, police say motorcycle drivers should be comfortable with their skills and abilities before taking to public streets.
