Daily COVID-19 numbers drop below 300 in B.C.

VICTORIA — The daily COVID-19 case count continues to tumble in B.C.

Today, the Province announcing 289 new cases of the virus, including just four in northern B.C.

Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry says active cases have dropped to 3,782 with 301 people in hospital, 93 of whom are in critical or intensive care.

Here’s the regional breakdown:

  • Vancouver Coastal Health: 70
  • Fraser Health: 176
  • Island Health: 3
  • Interior Health: 35
  • Northern Health: 4

Henry says there was also one new case of a person who resides outside of Canada.

She says there has been one new death, bringing the B.C.’s death toll to 1,680.

Henry adds that 2,927,487 doses of COVID-19 vaccines have now been administered to adults 18 and older in B.C., 148,580 of which are second doses.

This means that 64.6 per cent of all adults have received their first dose, or 59.8 per cent of those 12 and older.
