PRINCE GEORGE – Those in the Prince George business community are encouraged by BC’s restart plan announced by BC Health Officials and the Premier back on Tuesday.

The Prince George Chamber of Commerce says they are hopeful for a big summer ahead.

Todd Corrigall, CEO says the tentative dates provided are a good planning piece for businesses so they know roughly what to expect moving ahead.

Outlined in BC’s plan make June 15th, and further on Canada Day as benchmark dates moving forward for the lifting of health restrictions.

Most of the restrictions put in during BC’s ‘circuit breaker’, are now lifted, but mandatory face masks along with gathering restrictions and travel limits are expected to be lifted in July.

Eoin Foley, President of Downtown PG says patios did the job, but indoor dining is essential for businesses especially in Northern BC.

Foley says there is some silver lining to take away, noting the number of new patios in the city, and the ‘vibe’ created on third avenue with those additions.

The City of Prince George was ambitious early on in the restrictions allowing restaurants to take advantage of a streamlined program to put patios up downtown and throughout the city, some of which are likely to be legacies of the pandemic.
