More than 100 attend memorial after tragic Kamloops discovery
PRINCE GEORGE–More than 100 people came out to Lheidli T’enneh Memorial Park on Saturday to mourn the tragic discovery at a former residental school in Kamloops last weekend.
Dozens gathered at the park with many wearing orange shirts to remember the 215 lives that were taken.
Elders and speakers from First Nations lead the group in prayer and shared some personal experiences their family members had at residental schools. Sage was given to the crowd and drums were played. The organizer of the event says that the big turnout shows strong support from the community.
