PRINCE GEORGE – There’s no question, once fans are welcomed back into arenas and stadiums, the whole game day experience will be different in many ways. The Prince George Cougars are actively working to stay ahead of the game, while also providing new ticket packages for season ticket holders.

“We’re really having to examine how we do our regular business because of ongoing uncertainties,” explained Andy Beesley, the Vice President of Business with the Prince George Cougars. “Also, just with what we’ve learned as a result of COVID, we’re having to look at everything from how we meet to our ticket packages; how we’re offering them. Food delivery and entrances/exits. We’ve got a whole variety of things we’re having to rethink and almost reinvent.”

When it comes to season tickets, the Cougars are in full understanding of both the current restrictions, what might be if all goes according to plan, and people’s concerns that may still be present once restrictions do get lifted.

“We know people are eager to get back, but we also know that because of COVID there is a ‘hangover effect’, some ongoing uncertainties,” says Beesley.

“So one example, we’ve completely redesigned one of our season ticket packages. It’s a completely flexible package, so it’s all of the same perks and privileges as a season member, but we’re acknowledging people don’t actually know who they might want to bring to the game, how many games they want to go do, whether they’re scared and just want to take a few weeks to sit back, so we’ve designed these packages so you literally pick how many games you want to go to, and how many people, and we think that’s a little different but we believe that’s what the fans need to see right now.”

The in-arena experience will too look a bit different.

One of the interesting things with COVID is it’s actually forced us to rethink a whole bunch of stuff, including the entrances/exits, food delivery, and program delivery. In some cases, we actually think we’ve improved the situation as a result of COVID. For example, food and beverages is going to be a little different. We’re going to give people the option to order from their seats, pay for everything from their seat, and then get a text message that tells them when and where to pick up their food. I think that’s an improvement.”

Programs will also be offered through digital format rather than printed copies. This way, the Prince George Cougars digital team will be able to offer more content through their digital programs.

Beesley does believe there might still be some form of souvenir copy for purchase, but this way they can ensure that thousands of paper copy programs aren’t going to waste.

“We’re finding ways to just try to reduce the number of people that congregate in one spot. We still think people are going to want to spread out a little bit and we need to be able to give them those options.”

While Beesley admits there are a lot of changes coming, he’s confident Cougars fans will be comfortable and understanding as they look to return to their seats.
