COVID-19 case count continues to drop in B.C.

VICTORIA — The provincial government says 148 people have been diagnosed with COVID-19 in British Columbia over the past 24 hours.

Here’s the regional breakdown:

  • Vancouver Coastal Health: 23
  • Fraser Health: 75
  • Island Health: 10
  • Interior Health: 32
  • Northern Health: 8

Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry and Health Minister Adrian Dix say there are currently 1,975 active cases of the virus with 195 people in hospital, 47 of whom are in intensive care.

They say three more people have died bringing B.C.’s death toll to 1,725.

As for vaccinations, Henry and Dix say that 74.5 per cent of all adults in B.C. and 72.4 per cent of those 12 and older have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. In total 3,749,758 doses have been administered in B.C., 390,264 of which are second doses.

A total of 145,843 people have been diagnosed with COVID-19 since the pandemic began, 142,106 of those people have recovered.
