PRINCE GEORGE – The Tokyo Olympics are set to happen this year and will be the first time ever that karate will be in an Olympic Games.

For the Nechako Karate Club, having that exposure means spreading interest around the world and up here in the North.

After a down year because of the pandemic, the Club hopes that Karate will continue in the Olympics for years to come.

“It’s far bigger in the world than people understand it is. It really is a worldwide sport. I think with karate in the Olympics this year, it’s gonna have much higher viewership than anyone could have thought and it’s a very doable sport for anybody,” says Warren Grafton, Owner and Instructor at the Nechako Karate Club.

“To me, it’s one of the few sports that’s truly worldwide and I think people are gonna be really impressed,” explained Grafton.
