Drum Circle celebrations at Lheidli T’enneh Memorial Park

PRINCE GEORGE – Dozens of Prince George residents gathered in Lheidli T’enneh Memorial Park to honour and celebrate Indigenous people around the country today.
June 21st a day to honour, remember and support all Indigenous peoples across the country.
On its 25th anniversary, we celebrate, however, this year weighs a lot heavier, due to the current discoveries in Kamloops and across the country.

“These past few weeks have been just lots of mourning, we’ve just been in mourning. As a family, as a nation as a community,” said Shannon Wright, Gitxsan Hereditary Chief. “So today, I’m looking forward to celebrating our culture and supporting one another as Indigenous people and non-Indigenous people alike.”

Chief Dolleen Logan of the Lheidli T’enneh First Nation says the support from around the community and the world has been amazing. Chief Logan says these past few weeks have been about mourning the souls lost, but today is a day to celebrate
