PRINCE GEORGE – The forest fire danger rating has moved from moderate to high today because of the hot and dry weather.

Wildfire crews stationed within Prince George Fire Centre stand at the ready and waiting for the call to respond.

Maintenance crews are busy preparing water-skimmers and air tankers planes for the next call out to a forest fire as we continue to experience record-breaking temperatures at the airport.

In readiness are Initial attack crews that include para-attack teams, which are known to parachute into a remote forest fire and unit ground crews.

Fire officials continue to monitor thunderstorms activity that’s forecast for the region. Human-caused fires can be known to stretch resources.

The city of Prince George has banned the use of all fireworks and all open burning in Prince George, including campfires. The bans will remain in place until further notice.
