Evacuation orders lifted for Deka Lake residents

100 MILE HOUSE, B.C. — There is positive news on the wildfire front in the South Cariboo Wednesday, as residents of the Deka Lake area are going back home.

The Cariboo Regional District has announced the Evacuation Orders in place for the Deka Lake – Judson Road area have been downgraded to alert status.

The orders were first issued for 693 properties last Thursday (July 1) due to an encroaching wildfire.

The B.C. Wildfire Service says the fire southwest of Deka Lake is estimated at 650 hectares in size.
