Kick-off to capital fundraising campaign launched for an ECHO Ultrasound at St. John Hospital
NORTHERN BC – The Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation has stepped up to try and bring the very best care closer to home for patients throughout Northern British Columbia.
Recently the need for an ECHO Ultrasound to enhance cardiac care in the Omineca Region was identified. Endorsed by local Physician, Dr. Shu Ho, he feels the need for this locally.
“As a local physician performing cardiac stress testing at St. John Hospital, I am thrilled at the prospect of performing echocardiography in Vanderhoof. Echocardiograms are ultrasounds of the heart and similar to ultrasounds for pregnant patients and their fetus, it allows physicians to gather important information about how well the heart is working.”
“Currently, UHNBC is our main referral center for patients in need of this critical service. In addition to travelling to Prince George, which imparts financial and time constraints especially during winter months; patients often wait months for their echocardiogram. With the ability to perform this service locally, we can reduce travel times, shorten regional waitlists, and provide better care. With your support, we hope to continue providing exceptional care in Vanderhoof and the neighbouring communities we serve,” says Dr. Shu Ho, Vanderhoof GP.
