PRINCE GEORGE – After the postponement of the Climb for Cancer in April, earlier this year, it has been officially announced that it will return this fall.

September 18th and 19th are the dates for the two-day event, which will have food trucks, vendors and local musicians on Saturday evening, with the climb on Sunday.

So far, over $207,000 has been raised since its introduction and this year the goal is to raise at least $50,000.

When asked about the climb, Doug Bell, Planning Committee Chair, mentioned how vital this event will be for patients dealing with cancer, especially since COVID has taken centre stage.

“This year more than ever, we’re really excited to bring back the event. This is something that we always forget, that during the pandemic there are so many other things going on in the world. We don’t really think about these people that are still suffering today and going through treatments. This is incredibly important.”

All money raised will be donated to the Kordyban Lodge, which is used to pay for the annual costs associated with operating the lodge.

The lodge serves as a home-away-from-home for cancer patients from the region receiving treatment for cancer at the BC Cancer Centre for the North.
