204 new cases of COVID-19 in B.C.

VICTORIA — The number of people infected with COVID-19 in British Columbia continues to increase.

Today, the Province announced 204 new cases, for a total of 149,648 cases since the pandemic began. Of those, 146,810 people have recovered.

Here’s the regional breakdown of the newly announced cases:

* 58 new cases in Fraser Health
* Total active cases: 241

* 23 new cases in Vancouver Coastal Health
* Total active cases: 139

* 107 new cases in Interior Health
* Total active cases: 600

* two new cases in Northern Health
* Total active cases: 19

* 14 new cases in Island Health
* Total active cases: 51

* no new cases of people who reside outside of Canada
* Total active cases: five

There are 1,055 active cases in B.C., with 51 people in hospital, 20 of whom are in intensive care.

As for vaccinations, 81 per cent of eligible people 12 and older in B.C. have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine and 64.1 per cent have received their second dose.

There have been no new deaths with B.C.’s COVID-19 related death toll remaining at 1,771.
