Wildfire totals going up as heatwave approaches

PRINCE GEORGE – Wildfire totals throughout the province are slightly going up again and with the upcoming heatwave set to start this weekend, wildfires are still top of mind and a top priority for B.C. to try and extinguish.

Firefighting efforts continue, with many of the personnel being from out of province, as we are far from out of the woods yet.

Below are the current active numbers, as of today.

Fires

  • Wildfires currently burning in B.C.: 266
  • ​Since April 1, 2021:
    • 1, 463 wildfires
    • 655,934 hectares of area burned
