PRINCE GEORGE – It took just one season playing at the Triple-A level for the Prince George Knights U18 team to bring home another championship, just this time it was their first Triple-A title.

Playing in the BC Minor Baseball Association 18U final, the Knights defeated the Richmond City Chuckers 6-4.

Through the tournament’s round-robin, the Knights finished with a 3-1 record, seeding them at the No. 2 team heading into the playoffs. The Knights defeated the Cloverdale Spurs 11-8 in the semifinal Sunday morning, clinching their spot into the final game.

Originally set to make the jump from Double-A to Triple-A last year, the Knights were forced to wait due to the pandemic.

The Knights had won four consecutive Double-A Provincial Championships, ultimately leading to the team’s jump to the next level of competition in Triple-A.

Hoisting the title on Sunday, the Knights are now done with tournament play this season. The Knights have been spending much of the season getting additional play in through the Prince George Senior Men’s Baseball League, with their next game coming at Citizen Field Monday (Aug. 16).
