TRU WolfPack to hold camp in Prince George
KAMLOOPS – In what has become a much-anticipated trek for the Thompson Rivers University men’s volleyball team with the hiatus last season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the WolfPack will be heading to Prince George from August 30 to September 2.
The trip to the Northern Capital will serve as a dual-purpose trip. The team will be holding training camp as well put on camps for local volleyball players. TRU has been coming to Prince George for the past 12 years.
“It started out as a camp to get our name out there and expand our recruiting base back in the day, now it’s turned into kind of a training camp for the guys, a way to get them together and have some shared experiences on the road,” said Pat Hennelly, who has been head coach of the WolfPack since 2005-06. “It’s become an annual thing for our guys, and they all look forward to it.”
A volleyball community filled with talent, Prince George has produced over ten student-athletes that have represented the WolfPack men’s team at the highest level of university volleyball in Canada. From Tim Flannigan and Graham Allard in 2005-06 all the way to current players Kyle McKee and Cole Johnston, the ‘Pack have had a Prince George local on their team for the entirety of their time at the U SPORTS level.
