PRINCE GEORGE – The Prince George Cougars have announced their 2021 Training Camp schedule.

Training Camp opens on the afternoon of Thursday, September 9th and runs through to the evening of Monday, September 13th, with the Cougars annual Intrasquad Game. The two teams compete for the Rob Charney Cup. Rob Charney was a Manitoba based scout for the Cougars who passed away from cancer in 2013.

Training Camp rosters will be comprised of returning players, prospects, and free-agent invites who will be grouped into three teams: (Tyler) Brough, (Brock) Hirsche and (Chase) Witala.

The five-day Training Camp will involve fitness testing, daily practices, off-ice workouts, and scrimmages. It will be the first Training Camp for the 2020 WHL Prospects Draft class that includes first-round selections Riley Heidt, Caden Brown and Ryker Singer.

“We’re excited to finally have the opportunity to bring our veterans and prospects together for our first Training Camp in two years,” said General Manager & Head Coach Mark Lamb. “We have a lot of young talent and I look forward to preparing our team for the new season.”

The Cougars’ Prospects Showcase Game highlights the first day of Training Camp. Team Chico (Dhanjal) faces off against Team (Ralph) Posteraro at 6:00 p.m. The two rosters consist of listed prospects and free-agent invites aged 15 to 17-years-old.

All scrimmages and ice times are at the CN Centre and are open to the public.

Following current BC Government COVID-19 protocols, the Cougars are reminding the public masks are mandatory and must be worn at all times. Those planning to attend the Intrasquad Game on September 13th will have to provide proof of vaccination status.
