Canada coming to PG

Prince George awarded as host for 2022 Canadian Biathlon Championships

PRINCE GEORGE – Caledonia Nordic Ski Club has proven it’s a world-class facility following the World Paranordic Skiing Championships, and today the facility heard word that it’ll get another chance to showcase itself.

Lyle McLeod President of Biathlon Canada announced they would be awarding the 2022 Canadian Biathlon Championships to the Caledonia Nordic Ski Club.

250 of the top biathletes in the country will be coming to compete on the outstanding trails located on Otway Road just west of Prince George.

Biathlon is a combination of cross-country skiing and rifle marksmanship. Athletes will ski a set distance and then shoot toonie sized targets.

The Caledonia Nordic biathlon program has consistently resulted in athletes that compete on the national and international stage. It is the home club of several former Olympians including Megan Tandy and Sarah Beaudry. Currently, Beaudry, a 2018 Olympian, and Emily Dickson are training for high-level competitions at an international level.

Events will include the following:

Sprint – March 13, 2022

Pursuits – March 14, 2022

Mass Start/Individual – March 16, 2022

Single Mixed Relay – March 17, 2022
