Cougars’ comeback efforts fall short in home-opening loss to Kamloops
PRINCE GEORGE – The Prince George Cougars fell 5-4 to the Kamloops Blazers in their 2021-2022 Regular Season Home Opener on Saturday night at the CN Centre.
The 2,425 fans in attendance were treated to an entertaining game, as the Cougars came back from a three-goal deficit in the second period and came back from a goal down in the third.
Hudson Thornton, Kyren Gronick, Riley Heidt, and Jonny Hooker scored in the loss. Thornton finished with three points (1 goal, 2 assists) and was named the game’s first star. Heidt and Hooker each had two points. Viliam Kmec chipped in with a pair of assists in his first WHL game. Tyler Brennan was tagged with the loss in net after he stopped 26 of 31 shots.
