Hospital Employees Union urges vaccination
PRINCE GEORGE – Yesterday was the deadline for long-term care workers and assisted living workers to be vaccinated. But, according to the Hospital Employees Union, that order has been modified.
“Initially, workers in long-term care and assisted living were required to have two doses by October the 12th in order to keep working on site. Last week she changed the order so that you can get one dose by October 12th and you could continue working with certain provisions in place, like rapid testing on ship and you needed to commit to getting the second dose within 28 to 35 days,” explains Mike Old of the HEU. “If you didn’t get dose by October 12th, most employers would put you on an unpaid leave of absence. But the order sets out that if you get your first dose within the next two weeks, after a seven-day wait, you can return to the health care system and you need to get your second dose within 28 to 35 days.”
This paints the picture in long-term care and and assisted living as of today:
Total Employees – 48,879
