PRINCE GEORGE– Erin O’Toole is facing some criticism from the gun lobby after the Conservative leader backtracked on one key promise to repeal the Liberals’ ban on some assault-style firearms during the election campaign.

Sheldon Clare, former president and C-E-O of the National Firearms Association, says unhappiness among gun owners has intensified since the election.

He says the community reacted with anger and disgust during the September federal election campaign when O’Toole vowed that a government led by him would “maintain the ban on assault weapons. Many experts claim the broken promise cost the Conservative Party seats in the election.
