HOUSTON, B.C. — Several people were arrested in two drug trafficking investigations by Houston and Smithers RCMP.

In June 2021, Smithers RCMP began an investigation into drug trafficking within the community, which included surveillance that showed suspicious activity consistent with the sale of illegal drugs at a local residence.

Police noted that several vehicles stopped at the home for short durations. Police gathered evidence and a search warrant was issued for the home in the 3900-block of Gilbert Road.

During the search, RCMP seized a loaded .22 firearm, ammunition, suspected cocaine, cash, and paraphernalia.

In August 2021, RCMP commenced another drug trafficking investigation with information regarding suspected dealers. Police obtained evidence and a search warrant was issued for a residence in the 7000-block of Dieter Road.

Police seized a large quantity of illicit drugs suspected to be fentanyl, methamphetamine, and cocaine. As well as cash and drug paraphernalia, a loaded .22 firearm, crossbows, and ammunition.

RCMP say drug trafficking and possession charges could be a result of the investigations.
