PRINCE GEORGE – One of the leading causes of death in the province is impaired driving. Although the Counter Attack campaign has officially not launched, police have started to ramp up the roadside checks and continue their crackdown through to the New Year.

The police are reminding motorists impairment is not limited to alcohol. Drugs, whether they are prescription or illegal, can trigger impairment and yield the same penalties.

Police are also reminding the public to call 911 if they observe suspected impaired drivers.

The safety road checks are performed to ensure drivers during the holiday season do not drink and drive.
