Disturbing videos surface following SD57 candidate’s campaign launch

PRINCE GEORGE – Moments after Stuart Parker announced he “drew the short straw” to run for school trustee in School District 57, several triggering and disturbing videos surfaced.

Several videos show profane messages around the sexual abuse of children from a three-hour-long, third-year UNBC history lecture in September 2020.

In one of the videos, Parker suggests that someone abusing their own children is acceptable in society while abusing someone else’s children is not acceptable.

In one of the other videos, Parker commented about “all these really hot white girls” attending his zoom class.

Several of Parker’s former students from his last class at the University of Northern BC raised serious concerns about a man they said should not be involved with children.

CKPG News protected the identities of two UNBC students who both spoke about how concerning his behaviour was.

The former UNBC Professor responded to the videos and concerns of students on Friday afternoon in a ten-minute recorded message.

BC Minister of Education Jennifer Whiteside also weighed in on the videos, and the recent concerns from the public since Parker announced his campaign.

“Schools must be a safe place for children, staff and families, and everyone in our education system is expected to uphold that unequivocal standard. The comments in this video are vile, deeply disturbing and harmful to children. They have no place in our society, let alone our education system. I further condemn the anti-2SLGBTQ+ comments made at Mr. Parker’s campaign launch yesterday,” said Whiteside.

“The people and families of Prince George deserve elected representatives who stand for safe, inclusive learning environments – not those who promote dangerous views that jeopardize the safety and wellbeing of children. Mr. Parker must take responsibility for his harmful speech, apologize unequivocally and immediately withdraw from this byelection,” said Whiteside.

As of Friday evening, Parker had not officially filed his candidate paperwork with School District 57.
