PRINCE GEORGE – In recognition of the National Impaired Driving Enforcement Day, BC Highway Patrol conducted impaired driving enforcement operations.

A unit from the BC Highway Patrol and Prince George RCMP launched it’s impaired driving enforcement road stop on a section of highway 16.

The campaign aims to remind drivers that they can expect to see a heightened police presence targeting impaired drivers throughout the month and beyond.

According to provincial statistics, 65 people die each year in collisions where alcohol, drugs or medication is involved, making impaired driving one of the leading causes of death on our provincial roadways.

Police say if you plan to consume anything that impairs your ability to drive, also plan to make alternate arrangements to get to your destination safely.

Motorists can expect to see numerous police road-checks throughout the city during December, and police ask everyone to obey the direction of officers at all check-stops.
