Finance and Audit hashes out tax picture
PRINCE GEORGE – While Council approved a zero percent tax hike for last year, but that will not likely be the case for 2022.
During the most recent Finance and Audit Committee meeting, a proposed base tax hike of 6.37% is being proposed. There are three requests for additional funds as well, including four additional RCMP Officers, that would push the tax hike to 6.6%.
The taxes would cover the recent wage increases for the RCMP contract to the tune of $2.4 million, City staff wage increases of $1.7 million, an increase to the snow budget by $200,000. Overall, the additional expenses round out to $7.3 million dollars.
