UWNBC hosting children’s book drive this Friday

Dec 8, 2021 | 4:20 PM

PRINCE GEORGE- United Way of Northern BC is hosting a children’s book drive this Friday as part of the annual Tree of Lights campaign. People are being asked to bring new or lightly used children’s books that will be used to make literacy more accessible for children in the PG community.

Residents can drop off children’s books at the UWNBC office on 15th avenue from 9:00 am until 7:00 pm. All donations will be given to local agencies that will either give them directly to families in need or to organizations that will use them for children’s programs and services.

There will also be a Santa at the drive for attendees to take photos with. Additionally, as part of the campaign, a unique prize from a local business will be unveiled daily. Donors will be entered in a draw to win these prizes, which are drawn every Monday until December 24.

The Tree of Lights campaign is being hosted with a goal of raising $50,000 to support vital social service programming and fill the gaps that the pandemic has intensified in the social service sector in Prince George. Anyone that is unable to make a donation during the drive can still drop books off any weekday before December 23 at the UWNBC office from 8:30 am until 4:30 pm.
