Over 4,300 new cases of COVID-19 in BC

NORTHERN BC- Another record day for COVID-19 activity in BC after the province recorded a record 4,383 new cases. This includes 122 from Northern Health, bringing the region’s active case count to 422, and the provincial active case count to 17,357. Of the active cases, 211 individuals are in hospital and 66 are in intensive care.

The majority of the 2,825 Omicron COVID-19 cases have been located in Vancouver Coastal Health (1,333) and Fraser Health (777). Northern Health has confirmed 13 cases.

From December 22-28, people not fully vaccinated accounted for 15.8% of cases and from December 15-28, they accounted for 54.7% of hospitalizations. So far, 88.0% of eligible people five and older in BC have received their first dose of a vaccine and 82.9% have received their second dose.
