Cold weather to continue into the new year

PRINCE GEORGE – As we make our way through the cold into the new year, there is some hope that things may warm up in the coming days. However, mother nature and la Nnia have other things in store for us.

Scientists stress that La Niña is not a storm that hits a specific area at a given time. Instead, it’s a change in global atmospheric circulation that affects weather around the world. The biggest impact of La Niña on North American rain, snow, and temperatures tend to be felt during the winter.

According to Environment Canada, Prince George will see a bit of a warm-up over the weekend but there are high winds forecasted as well, making things feel colder. Unfortunately, come Monday will see temperatures drop down again into the minus 4o range. These cold temperatures are predicted to continue into January, early February.
