Prince George Airport Authority feeling cautiously optimistic for 2022
PRINCE GEORGE- Passenger volume at the Prince George airport is slowly recovering as numbers were up by almost 14% in 2021 compared to 2020.
The year started slow in January 2021 with 7,831 passengers. However, the airport got a lot busier in the summer months when 12,870 passengers visited YXS in June followed by 21,176 in July. December was the busiest month of the year, as there were 29,118 passengers, a 210.46% increase from December 2020.
“We are cautiously optimistic as we head into the new year that we will continue to see the recovery trend that started mid-way through 2021,” stated President and CEO of the Prince George Airport Authority, Gordon Duke.
There were a couple of new developments at the airport last year. YXS became the site of a COVID-19 testing clinic for staff members and the public. Farmhouse Catering also opened up a cafe in the departures lounge. The new long term parking equipment was installed as well.
