BC sees over 5,000 new COVID-19 cases and 22 new deaths

NORTHERN BC- Northern Health tallied 556 new COVID-19 cases over the last three days. This brings the regions active case count to 1,645. None of the 22 new deaths seen over the past 72 hours were identified in the north. The provincial death toll has reached 2,490.

Over the weekend, BC reported 5,625 new cases:

• Jan. 14-15: 2,383 new cases
• Jan. 15-16: 1,733 new cases
• Jan. 16-17: 1,509 new cases

There are now 35,985 active cases in the province, and 257,677 people who tested positive have recovered. Of the active cases, 819 COVID-positive individuals are in hospital and 99 are in intensive care.
