Third dose COVID-19 vaccination uptake climbing in Prince George
PRINCE GEORGE- Third dose vaccination rates are on the rise in Prince George. This comes as 33.3% of eligible British Columbians across the province have received a third dose.
Out of the five community health service areas in PG, the Prince George- City Southwest area has the highest. There are 15,463 residents in the area and has a 23.3% third dose vaccination rate as of January 11. This comes as Prince George City – North, which is slightly bigger with a population of 15,753, is at 22.6%. The largest CHSA in the community, Prince George City – Central, which has 40,431 residents, comes in third out of the PG area with 21.3%.
Back in the beginning of January, the rate of third dose vaccinations across PG was hovering around 15%-18%. Now, it ranges from 19%-23.3%.
There are 16 health service delivery areas across the Northern Interior. The three CHSA’s in Burns Lake have the highest rates of third dose vaccination across the region. The rates in Burns Lake range from 28.4%-34.6%. Meanwhile, third dose vaccine uptake in Vanderhoof is the lowest in both of the community’s CHSA’s as 17.2% of the 5,459 residents in Vanderhoof Rural have been triple vaccinated. Meanwhile, 17.2% of the 5,459 residents in the Vanderhoof have received a third dose.
