Structure fire on George Street considered suspicious

PRINCE GEORGE- The Prince George Fire Rescue service responded to a fire on the 700 block of George St this morning at approximately 6:40. Upon arrival, crews found smoke and flame coming from the rear of the building.

The fire had breached the exterior cladding burning the wall structure and the power meter and mast. Four halls initially responded, crews made a quick attack and limited the damage to the roofline, wall structure and power utilities.

The flames caused about $40,000 in damage. Crews were on scene for 1.5 hrs with no injuries to civilians or fire crews. The cause of the fire is unknown but is considered suspicious.
