PRINCE GEORGE – The recent freeze and warm-up cycles of temperatures have city officials and some homeowners along the Nechako River watching closely. The sudden temperature changes can impact the river levels, threatening those who live along the river.

As the temperatures hover above the freezing mark, water flows in the Nechako river begin to pick up, and so do city officials’ daily observation of the river.

In recent weeks our region experienced extreme fluctuations in temperature. It’s those dramatic highs and lows that can be the perfect storm to develop an ice jam.
