Woodstove Exchange Program returns
PRINCE GEORGE- The annual Woodstove Exchange Program is returning to the Prince George community to improve air quality. Residents can exchange their older, smoky wood burning appliances for low-emission appliances such as gas, pellet and EPA-certified clean burning wood stoves or inserts.
According to the PG Air Improvement Roundtable (PGAIR), this is a provincial initiative aimed at reducing the amount of particulate matter. PGAIR explains that residential wood burning is a significant source to fine particulate matter in Prince George and across the province.
Eligible residents across the Regional District of Fraser Fort-George who trade in their old wood appliances can receive a rebate of up to $1,000. Program participants who require a Solid Fuel Burning Appliance Permit through the Regional District are eligible to have their permit fee waved. Those who qualify through the CleanBC Indigenous Community Heat Pump Incentive are also welcome to apply for Woodstove Exchange Program rebates simultaneously.
