PRINCE GEORGE—Well over 215 days has passed since the tragic discovery of 215 bodies of Indigenous Children at the former residential school in Kamloops. Following the discovery, Lheidli T’enneh leaders have asked for their flags to be lowered in honour.

Now, a new flag from the First Nation will be flying high inside the SD57 district office. The flag now contains an orange ribbon as recognition of the 215 unmarked graves.

The flag was introduced during a drumming ceremony at the office on January 24. An opening prayer by Elder Darlene McIntosh also took place.
