Prince George RCMP investigating Porter Avenue homicide

PRINCE GEORGE — Local Mounties are investigating the city’s first homicide of 2022.

Prince George RCMP Cpl. Jennifer Cooper says shortly before 11 a.m. yesterday, police received a request to attend the 1300 block of Porter Avenue to assist B.C. Ambulance Service with a man located there with serious injuries.

She says the man was taken to hospital but did not survive. Police are currently on scene gathering evidence and the Integrated Forensic Identification Section has been contacted to assist in the investigation.

“Our Serious Crime Unit is working diligently to determine the series of events that led us to 2022’s first homicide. Our thoughts go out to the family and friends of the victim,” says Cooper.

Police would like to speak with anyone around the 1300 block of Porter Avenue who may have witnessed some unusual activity Tuesday morning. Additionally, if anyone in the area has video surveillance or dash cam footage from Tuesday morning between 9 a.m. and 11:30 a.m, whom police have not yet spoken with, please call (250)561-3300.
