PRINCE GEORGE – Two-time Olympic Bronze Medalist Meryeta O’Dine arrived back in Prince George Tuesday afternoon to large crowd of local supporters who gathered at the Prince George Airport.

As soon as O’Dine entered the arrivals area at YXS, cheers from many of O’Dines friends and family erupted as Canadian flags waved, and homemade signs were held high by many of her local fans.

“I’ve been away for five months, I haven’t been home once so honestly it’s crazy, just to come home to all of this, it’s just amazing,” said O’Dine.

O’Dine was met by Mayor Lyn Hall shortly after she landed in BC’s Northern Capital as the City of Prince George announced a celebration of their own.

On February 26 at 1 p.m., the public is invited to gather in Canada Games Plaza for a Prince George Olympic Celebration.

The event will include some short speeches along with a chance for locals to see O’Dine’s medals and even an opportunity for autographs for the homegrown Olympian.

O’Dine is the first Olympian from Prince George to earn an Olympic medal.
