Black History Month: Timberwolves’ Fareed Shittu pens letter to 10-year-old self
PRINCE GEORGE – For the final day of Black History Month, UNBC Timberwolves’ basketball player Fareed Shittu penned a letter to his 10-year-old self.
The Timberwolves, who have proven to be a forerunner in their addressing of social issues, released the two-minute video on their social media accounts on Monday.
In the video, a close-up shot of Shittu plays as a voice-over of personal experiences plays.
“Dear Fareed, happy Black History Month,” the video plays. “It’s not going to be easy and you’re going to stand out. You’ll care what people think of you. You’ll want everyone to like you, and who wouldn’t? But in most rooms, you’ll be the only black man.”
