RCMP investigating two ‘unrelated’ incidents of shots fired

Frontline police arrived on scene and confirmed that shots were fired. At this time, no victims have been located. Police reviewed video surveillance, which showed a small red car leaving the area at the time of the shots.

A vehicle matching its description was located a short distance away by police and the occupants of the vehicle, who are known to police, were arrested for careless use of a firearm. Police towed the vehicle to collect further evidence and released the suspects pending results of the investigation.

The second incident occurred not far from the first, just blocks from Lheidli T’enneh Memorial Park.

Police responded before 6:00 a.m. on Wednesday to a commercial dwelling unit on the 1600 block of Queensway Avenue and located one victim suffering from what appeared to be a gunshot wound.

BC Emergency Health Services transported the man to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Police remained on scene while they collected further evidence from the area. The victim is known to police.

If anyone has surveillance video or dash cam footage from the 2100 block of Upland Street around 6:00 p.m. on March 1 or from the 1600 block of Queensway around 5:30 a.m. on March 2 they can contact an investigator by calling 250-561-3300. Please quote file numbers 2022-7074 and 2022-7120.
