COVID-19 claims two more lives in northern B.C.

VICTORIA — COVID-19 has claimed 13 more lives over the past 24 hours in British Columbian, including two more in the Northern Health region.

Here’s the regional breakdown:

  • Fraser Health: 4
  • Vancouver Coastal Health: 4
  • Interior Health: 3
  • Northern Health: 2

It brings B.C.’s death toll since the pandemic began to 2,896. In Northern Health, COVID-19 has claimed a total of 317 lives.

Hospitalizations are down slightly to 511 (-6) and 79 (+6) people are in intensive care.

As for vaccinations, 90.6 per cent of eligible people five and older in B.C. have received a first dose of COVID-19 vaccine and 86.3 per cent have received their second dose.

In addition, 93.3 per cent of eligible people 12 and older in B.C. have received their first dose of vaccine, 90.8 per cent have received their second dose and 55.9 per cent have received a third dose.
