PRINCE GEORGE – For the past number of years, the Prince George Youth Soccer Association has been working to get itself in line with the framework required by both BC Soccer and Canada Soccer.

BC Soccer has shifted to now govern districts across the province, with the city’s youth soccer association falling under the newly established district, known as the Northern Interior Youth Soccer Association.

As a result, associations have shifted to be recognized as clubs within their respective district. Moving forward, the PGYSA will now go by the PGYSA Impact Soccer Club.

According to Director of Club Operations, Terrol Russell, a lot of work has been put into positioning the club where they are meeting the necessary framework set out, and have since applied for club licencing through Canada Soccer. But another place of focus has been bringing the club up to speed with the norms of society as well.

As part of the PGYSA Impacts SC’s Vision 2025 plan, they hope to reach a point in the next three years where each of their female soccer teams is being both head coached and assistant coached by women. According to Russell, they’re right on track.
