Businesses proceed at their own pace with lifted face mask mandate

PRINCE GEORGE – As of Friday, face masks were no longer mandated in most indoor settings across British Columbia as the latest restriction changes take full effect.

Most businesses have lifted the requirement entirely although some still proceed with caution while taking a longer phased-out approach.

Troy McKenzie, Owner of The Black Clover located downtown hopes one less layer of protection may inspire more people to go and enjoy a night out.

McKenzie said he is looking forward to April 8th when the BC Vaccine Card is lifted which will open up the pub to another segment of the public who have not been able to visit the establishment.

The Razors Edge Hair Studio and Day Spa is asking a slower approach at eliminating face masks for their customers’ safety, and the safety of their staff.

Justin Mansbridge, Barber Manager said after a team meeting the business decided that in the waiting room clients are not required to wear a mask but ask them to put one on while they receive services.

Staff will also be wearing a face mask while giving services to clients.

Todd Corrigall, CEO of the PG Chamber of Commerce said every business has the right to choose their process for admittance, think no shoes, no shirt, no service.

“If a business requires a mask, wear one an employee wears a mask, leave them be. This is not about you, it’s about personal choice and decisions,” said Corrigall in a tweet.
