Snow Survey for March 1st
PRINCE GEORGE – Understanding the amount of snowpack in the alpine and keeping a close eye on the weather patterns, provincial scientists have a better chance of forecasting the seasonal flood risks.
According to the latest BC River Forecast Centre bulletin, the Upper Fraser East Basin snowpack saw an increase in snowpack by 129 per cent of normal.
The amount gives scientists a complete picture of the amount of water stored on the ground, ready to come down as we move into spring.
A combination of snowpack, warm weather and rainfall can mean an elevated risk for freshet-related flooding.
