Regional District of Fraser-Fort George approves its 2022 Budget

PRINCE GEORGE – The Regional District of Fraser-Fort George has approved its 2022 budget with a total of $57.8 Million in expected expenditures. $20.6 million of that will be funded through property taxes, an increase of $535,414 or 2.67 per cent increase over 2021. Most of the rest of the budget gap will be covered by grants, user fees, and the use of reserve funds.

Three-quarters of the budget will go to covering the four largest expenditures. $23.1 Million will go to solid waste management, $8 million will go to 9-1-1 emergency response services, $7.3 for protective services and $5 million to recreation and culture services.

The board also approved several community grants. $50,000 is going to the Buckhorn Volunteer Fire Association for floor repairs, $7,500 to the Nadsilnich Lake Community Association for utilities, insurance, maintenance and programs.

The NorthWest Invasive Plant Council will receive $25,000 for operating expenses. Other grants for smaller amounts were also awarded.
