Award winning fiddler returns to Prince George

PRINCE GEORGE – International and award-winning fiddler Daniel Lapp is returning home to play with the Prince George Symphony Orchestra (PGSO) for their 50th season.

“We are thrilled to be showcasing local talent,” says Michael Hall, Music Director and Conductor of the PGSO. “Prince George has produced some world-class fiddle players, it is a big part of the musical legacy of this community, and having them on stage with us is a real treat.”

Lapp grew up in Prince George and participated in several musical ventures as a child. Lapp sang in choirs from the age of five, played fiddle in the annual PG Fiddle Contest and sat on his high school’s senior Jazz band during grade 12. Lapp has also played clarinet, alto sax, trumpet, violin and piano for the PG music festival.

“Playing with the PGSO is something I have always wanted to do,” says Lapp, “it really is exciting to be here again with this great group, and to share the program with so many exciting local talents!”

This is only the second time the PGSO has taken the main stage since February 2020. The PGSO has hosted virtual events as well as several chamber music and children’s concerts. The concert will include numerous talent from across northern B.C. including Leslie-Jean MacMillan, Doug Borden and Alex Wildrising.
