Mackenzie citizens help RCMP reach missing person

MACKENZIE – On Saturday, March 26, 2022, at 6:30 am, Mackenzie RCMP was called to a disturbance on Mackenzie Blvd.

Police quickly determined that the disturbance was a missing person with concerns for the well-being of the individual. The missing person was identified as a woman who left with her vehicle and four dogs.

RCMP immediately called for assistance from search and rescue, air support and police dog service to begin the search.

Air support located the woman and her dogs a short time later near the 83-kilometer mark on the Parsnip West Forest Service Road. Ground units responded to the woman’s location but found the roads to be difficult to navigate.

Citizens of Mackenzie plowed the road and made them accessible for RCMP to reach the woman and her dogs.

“Without the support of the citizens of Mackenzie provided to the emergency response personnel, this could have ended much differently, ” said Cst Jenny Fu, Mackenzie RCMP.

The woman suffered some minor injuries and was taken to hospital. The dogs were reported in good health.
