One person sent to hospital after two-vehicle crash along Highway 97 north of 100 Mile House
100 MILE HOUSE, B.C. — A driver was taken to hospital and others were treated on scene after a two-vehicle crash closed Highway 97 north of 100 Mile House for a few hours Friday (April 1) morning.
RCMP responded to Highway 97 near Maze Lake Road north of Lac La Hache, approximately 44 kilometres north of 100 Mile House, where a northbound cargo van had drifted into the southbound lane, striking a Honda CRV travelling southbound. Police says the cargo van had left the highway and entered a field adjacent to the highway, while the CRV had went into the ditch.
RCMP say both vehicles had passengers. The passengers and the CRV driver were treated locally for minor and serious injuries, while a BC Ambulance helicopter took the driver of the cargo van – a 52-year-old woman from the Sunshine Coast – to Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops for treatment.
Police believe alcohol, drugs and sleep deprivation were all factors in the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
