GoFundMe campaign for pedestrian hit on 5th Avenue raises $130,000

PRINCE GEORGE — A GoFundMe campaign for a woman who was struck last week by a vehicle has raised over $130,000.

Amritpal Kaur is a 24-year-old student from India who was struck by a car while crossing 5th Avenue and Stuart Drive in the morning hours on April 6, 2022. Kaur was airlifted to Vancouver General Hospital in critical condition. Both of her lungs have collapsed as well as having a tear in her liver, broken ribs on both sides, broken collar bones and a pelvis fracture. Kaur has been in a coma since the time of the incident.

Kaur’s husband still resides in Punjab, India and has submitted paperwork to the Canadian embassy to expedite his paperwork and get him to Vancouver soon.

The condition of Kaur’s brain is still unknown as it is still swollen and she remains unresponsive. Doctors have said the rehabilitation will be a long road.

The city of Prince George says the crosswalk at 5th Avenue and Stuart Drive is budgeted for upgrades this summer.
